From 24th April 2017 if you’re caught speeding in England or Wales you’ll be facing a much tougher penalty of up to 175% of your weekly income, points on your licence, and even disqualification.
The new speeding penalties are split into three bands:
- Band A: 3 points
- Band B: 7-28 days disqualification OR 4-6 points
- Band C: 7-56 days disqualification OR 6 points

If you’ve held your driving licence for less than 2 years and receive 6 or more points (band B or C penalty) your licence will be revoked.
RAC spokesman Pete Williams said: “Anyone who breaks the limit excessively is a danger to every other road user and is unnecessarily putting lives at risk.
“Hopefully, hitting these offenders harder in the pocket will make them think twice before doing it again in the future.”
